I love this app but it would be really nice to have the option of selecting where you start in practice mode. Being able to start at a letter other then A would be fantastic so I could use all the letters as flashcards instead of stopping after 200 A words and having to start from the beginning when I close the app. Amazing amount of words. Love the format. If practice mode was fixed it would be 5 stars!

It would have been fun

Having been in competitions when I was younger, I downloaded this app for amusement. I found that the etymology is lacking for over a majority of the words. I wouldnt ask any more on that part, (although a thorough guide on language patterns, prefixes, suffixes, etc., would be perfect) considering that its a free app. It would also be nice if there was an option to the randomize the words. But overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the app.

Really enjoying the game; just have 2 issues: 1) it would be nice to have the option to shuffle/randomize the word list so the words given arent alphabetical; 2) Ive tried to play compete mode and it never connects to anything/anyone - not sure if this issue is because there arent a lot of people playing the game yet? Otherwise, very pleased with the game and layout.

No ability to shuffle..... Save favorites... Lots of great words to study and learn but no way to control the 11,000 words. No custom lists? What gives?

I am a Portuguese speaker and was searching for something like this. The only thing I miss is the syllabification. In the practice section, it would be useful if all the tabs were active after the word is shown correctly spelt. Yet it is too cheap for its value. Congratulations.

I cant believe that i now have on my ipod touch almost the entire Consolidated Word List, no need to carry that huge book around anymore. This is very timely for my class spelling bee. The pronunciations do make this a must have app for a spelling bee champ like me,

This is a great app with so many words and variety to practice, i have not tried the competitions yet, but i am having fun learning these words.

This is a huge word list and its going to take me a while to get thru this, great app though, already enjoying it. Can we add better progress tracking and multiplayer to this.

Great potential, but am i really going to start at the very first word in the whole list each and every time i want to learn or practice? This will make me very good at spelling aardwolf... I suggest you add features to: 1- segment learning or practice lists so you can define whee you start in each session. 2 - create a feature to randomize within a give set of words. Please add these features, or something to make it more managable to work through your lists!

If you like to learn then compete with other players, this game is for you. The best game I have on my IPod.

Any time I try to compete with friends it doesnt work. The whole reason I bought this app was to spell with friends. Unless this feature improves I am deleting this app!

Great app but become useless without the capability to track progress or randomize the word list. I hate to start at beginning every time I open the application.

its good but something is deficient. i think itd better add more description about meaning of words. its not eoungh to learn the words in this app. i need more detailed description of meaning and example sentences.

I like the format of this app, the ability to quiz alone or with others, and how it tracks words youve mastered and those you still need to practice. It even has a bell that dings when you make an error. But it is proving a bit quirky. My daughter had mastered 27 words just in the download (she hadnt used the app yet) and we cannot remove them from the list. We selected this app because it said it had the words rom the National Spelling Bee, but we only found 272 of the 375 on her list. The preloaded words are separated into 3 lists: frequent, infrequent, and moderate. There is no master list and no way to search all three lists simultaneously to find words - we had to look through all three lists individually to create a study list or her. Now that it is set up, I think it will be a useful tool.

Great user interface. Clean simple design easy to navigate. This application is not a flash card app. We have only been using the app for a couple of weeks. Here are the major points we like and our problems with the app. PRO 1. This app allows the user to first learn, then test and later easily see the words incorrectly spelled for subsequent review. 2. Huge list of words. 3. Each word has a coherent sound prompt. The Scripps Bee for the Nintendo DS has such a low volume on the voice prompts that many words simply can not be heard because the recorded volume is very low. We have even tried amplifying the Scripps Bee DS volume through our home stereo on full blast all without success. This feature alone is worth the price of the app! 4. The learning option includes a sentence using the prompted word. 5. Another feature we especially like is the ability to easily see the words that were incorrectly spelled. CON 1. There appears to be no way to add our own words. If there somehow were a way to add my childs weekly spelling lists this would be the perfect spelling app. The developer offers a spelling app. Think of a streamlined way to make a spelling test on your iPad without the nice practice mode or missed word feature of this app. 2. Unlike ANKI, Mental Case or other flashcard app, there does not seem to be a prompted review of words previously learned. Some might call this feature tracking. These problems are not a deal breaker if you plan to make your own flashcards using an app with tracking. Visit wwwDOTflashcardappsDOTinfo for a great review of flashcard apps. If you are doing prep for a bee or just expanding your vocabulary then it is highly recommended!

Its AMAZING! I am in a state spelling bee, and I study this everyday!

App should let user choose difficulty level. It should also let the user enter lists of words students are studying in school. This is not for my 2nd grade twins.

The apps built in peer-to-peer and Game Center functionality is very buggy and slow. Most of the time, I cant even get it to work. And I would like the ability to add my own lists!
